About MIDI
Typical Uses
MIDI files are frequently used by music professionals and enthusiasts and allow much greater flexibility than a waveform recording (e.g. MP3).
With MIDI files, one can:
- Recreate performances on player pianos such as PianoDisc, Disklavier, or Spirio
- Use in conjunction with Synthesia or similar software to learn new songs
- Make post-recording adjustments or corrections
- Change the instrument, tempo, and key without having to re-record
- Combine parts of multiple files to make your own arrangements
- Use note information to create sheet music
- Remove melody to create an accompanying backtrack

Due to the digital nature of MIDI files, we cannot allow users to preview individual files before purchasing. However, you can expect all of our MIDI files to be of similar quality to this free sample.
Pricing and Availability
1200+ songs available!
I have a memorized repertoire of over 1200 songs and am capable of learning most pop music and some orchestral pieces.
All MIDI file purchases will include accompanying MP3s (or FLAC, ALAC, AAC, etc.) If you are looking for MP3s and do not have the need for MIDI files, please check my BandCamp where you can purchase and download my music.
Tier 1 – File already available
Tier 1 represents MIDI files that have already been recorded and formatted and are ready for instant delivery.
Here is a list of all Tier 1 songs: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-bFvdlKRItL6LRvJEF_RaUt51OIOSdZ59fsZwAOJF3A/edit?usp=sharing
For individual songs:
$10 for the first MIDI file
$5 per additional file
add $5 per MIDI file if it is a medley or continuous improv session
Tier 2 – In repertoire but not yet recorded
Tier 2 represents songs that are in Steve’s repertoire but have not yet been recorded as MIDI files.
You can see a list of Steve’s repertoire on our Twitch request songlist: https://www.streamersonglist.com/s/stevesiupiano/songs
For these songs, the price is $20 per song and a typical turnaround time of one week.
The MIDI file will thereafter be available as a Tier 1 purchase. If you want an exclusive recording, this would fall under the Custom Request category.
Tier 3 – Custom requests
If you want a MIDI or MP3 recording of a song outside of our songlist, please contact me with a link or attachment of the song you want me to record for you.
I can also create medleys of songs I already know, again contact me with what you have in mind and I can provide you with a quote.
Pricing depends mostly on the complexity of the song. For pop songs with a defined melody, I can learn these quite quickly. Orchestral pieces such as TV/film scores or video game backgrounds are a bit more involved, and my quote will match that complexity. I do not consider myself a classical or jazz pianist, so if you requesting such songs I will likely decline the request or provide a very high quote.
If you wish, I can also create exclusive recordings where I will not sell that file to anybody else in the future.
Technical Specifications
Details specific to our files
Our MIDI files are:
- SMF 1 / Type 1
- Resolution of 480 TPQN (some of our older files are 120 TPQN)
- Two tracks, one default as per SMF1 and second containing all piano events
- No Tempo information (The file may indicate it is at 120BPM, but this does not reflect the actual performance)
- No Key Signature information (The file may indicate that it is in CMaj, but this does not reflect the actual performance)
- Not quantized beyond the base resolution
- 5-15 seconds tail between last keypress and end of track (Not all players read the End of Track events)
Please check our sample file to see if our MIDI files will work for whatever purpose you wish to use them for. Because we do not set tempo, key signature, or quantize our files, using them to create sheet music will likely require significant editing on your part.
